The PF instrument is a specialized tool designed to determine the PF curve within a precise range of 2.0 to 4.2, corresponding to 0.1 to 15 bar suction. This instrument is essential for those working in soil science, hydrology, and related fields, where accurate measurement of soil moisture is critical. The standard kit that accompanies the PF instrument is comprehensive and includes two extractors, each equipped with ceramic plates of varying pressure ratings (0.1 MPa, 0.3 MPa, 1.5 MPa, 1, 3, and 15 bar). These ceramic plates are designed to hold soil samples, allowing multiple samples to be analyzed simultaneously. This feature is particularly useful in research settings, where time efficiency and the ability to process multiple samples are crucial.

The pressure control panel, a critical component of the kit, is equipped with two pressure gauges. One gauge measures pressures ranging from 0 to 2 MPa (0 to 20 bar), while the other covers a range of 0 to 0.4 MPa (0 to 4 bar). These gauges provide accurate and real-time pressure readings, ensuring precise control during the extraction process.

The kit also includes a soil sampling ring, which is used to collect undisturbed soil samples, ensuring that the natural structure and moisture content of the soil are preserved during analysis. Additionally, a 220V-50Hz compressor is included, specifically designed for this application. The compressor is capable of generating a maximum pressure of 2.0 MPa (20 bar), making it suitable for the instrument’s high-pressure requirements. It also features built-in safety precautions and full protection, ensuring safe operation. Despite its power, the compressor operates with low noise, minimizing disruptions in laboratory environments.
