The Double-Ring Infiltrometer is a field instrument used to measure the infiltration rate of water into soil. It is widely used in soil science, hydrology, agriculture, and environmental studies to determine how quickly water enters the soil, which helps in irrigation planning, drainage design, and assessing soil permeability.
The apparatus consists of two concentric rings: an inner ring and an outer ring. Water is applied simultaneously to both rings, and the rate at which water infiltrates the soil from the inner ring is measured. The outer ring minimizes lateral flow, ensuring more accurate measurements of vertical infiltration.
Made from durable stainless steel or heavy-duty PVC, the Double-Ring Infiltrometer is portable, robust, and easy to set up in field conditions.
